The minutes of a special meet ng o~ the Pulaski Town Council
held December 1, 1978 at 5:00 F. M. in the Council Chambers in the
Municipal Building.
There were present: Mayor Raymond F. Ratcliff, presiding.
Councilmen: William A. House, Andrew L. Graham, Jr.,
Blair B, Brockmeyer,,C. E. Boyd, Jr.,
James M. Neblett, Jr ., John A. Johnston
Absent: Councilmen Wallace and Meadows
Also present: Town Manager: J. E. Marshall
Clerk: Gladys R. Dalton
Town Attorney: Garnett S. Moore
Recreation Dir: Ned Bane
Visitors: Jane Graham, W~UV Radio Station
Dave Vascek, Southwest Times
The invocation was given by Councilman Jo nston.
Mayor Ratcliff advised that the meeting had been called for the

BASEBALL purpose of discuss+ng the possibility of Pulaski having a Pro-Ball Club
CLUB FOR
1979 for the upcoming Baseball Season. Mayor Ratcliff stated Recreation
Director, Ned Bane would be meeting with the different Club Managers in
Florida this weekend, on this subject.
WAIVER OF NOTICE OF SPECIAL MEETING

We, the undersigned, duly elected members of the Council of the
Town of Pulaski, Virginia, hereby waive notice of a Special Meeting of said
Council at 5:00 P. M. on the First day of December, 1978, for the purpose
of discussing a possible PreBall Club, and any other business that may
legally come bef ore the Council,

Town Manager Marshall reported that in all probability some work
would have to be done at Calfee Park bef ore the upcoming baseball season.
He stated that work was needed in the right field, also some seats were
in need of repairs and the condition of the light poles was poor to
fairly good; two poles being in bad shape. Mr. Marshall also estimated
these 90 ft. poles would cost approximately $1,000 each.
There was lengthy discussion relative to the cost involved in
putting th Park in condition for baseball as well as to how these co is

Councilman Brockmeyer moved that Recreation Director Bane go to
the Fall Baseball Convention in Florida as representative of the Town
N. BANE 'IO and try to procure a Baseball Club for Pulaski, and in the event the

CONVENTION cost is prohibitive, the Town will have to withdraw from its commitment.

At 6:20 P. M. Councilman Graham moved that Council adjourn. Motion
was seconded by Councilman House, and carried.
