As required under Chapter 18 of the Town Code, Town
Coundil held its annual public hearing for the purpose of determining
the number of public vehicles, taxicabs and for hire cars for which
Certificates shall be issued during the calendar year 1971 Council
considered formal applications for renewal of a total of twenty-
27 TAXI seven (27) taxicabs. It was noted that George McKinley Ray applied
C ERT IF ICATES
ISSUED to operate a cab for Deluxe Cabs, and that this certificate was issued
to Mozelle K. Ratcliff for the year 1970. With regards to the question
of twenty-f our hour taxi service in Pulaski, it was also noted that a
letter from Mr. D. Keith Mayberry, President of City Cabs of Pulaski,.
Incorpar ated, indicated that his taxi service would continue from
3:30 A. M. to 1:30 A. M. Also, in a letter from Mr. Elbert E. Kinser,
owner of Diamond Cabs, that he would endeavor to operate and serve
the public within reason from 5:00 A. M. until 2:30 or 3:00 A. M.
From a check of their logs kept by the two taxi companies mentioned,
it was fele that the above hours would cover any services needed as
well as it being their feeling that twenty-f our hour service was not
in demand. It was also brought out that it was quite difficult to
get and keep drivers for these long hours. Councilman House moved that
the twenty-~eaaen (27) Certificates of Public Convenience and Necessity
be granted, which motion was seconded by Councilman Aust, and carried.
