At a regular Municipal election held for the Town of
Pulaski, Vir ginia on June 11, 1968, the following officers were
elected with terms to begin September 1, 1968:
Mayor C. Robert Edens - two year term; Andrew L. Graham,
William A. House, Mason A. Vaughan, and J. H. White, Councilmen to
serve four years.
The Mayor-elect and the Councilmen-elect having duly
qualified before the Clerk of the Circuit Court of Pulaski County,
Virginia, as provided by Section IX of the Town of Pulaski Chatter
of 1948, and the Charter Amendment approved by the 1956 Legislature
a meeting was held this the 3rd day of September, 1968, at 9:00 A. M.
in the Municipal office,
There were present; Mayor C. Robert Edens.
Councilmen: Raymond F. Ratcliff, William A. House, T. J.
McCarthy, Glen K. Aust, S. G. Frye, Andrew L.
`Graham, J. H. White, Mason A. Vaughan
Also present: Acting Town Manager: E. W. Holyfield
Acting Clerk: Frances Lookabill

Visitors: Jane Graham, Southtaest Times reporter.
The invocation was given by Councilman Aust.
On motion of Councilman Vaughan, seconded by Councilman House,.
and carried on the unanimous vote, it was:
RESOLVED, that the reading of the abstract of votes cast
in the Town of Pulaski, Virginia, at a Municipal election held June
11, 1968, be dispensed with; and further, that there be accepted and
entered into the minutes of the Town Council an abstract of votes in
the Town of Pulaski, County of Pulaski, Virginia, for Municipal officers
of said Town on Tuesday, June 11, 1968, and the members so elected be
seated:

VOTES We, the undersigned Commissioners of Election held in the
.Town of Pulaski, Virginia on Tuesday, June 11, 1968, do certify that
the above is a true and correct abstract from the return of said
election, and do, theref ore, determine and declare that C. Robert
Edens received the highest number of votes cast at said election
for Mayor of said Town; that Mason A. Vaughan, Andrew L. Graham, William
A House and Jack H. White received the highest number of votes cast
at said election for members of the council of said Town.
Accordingly, we do certify that C. Robert Edens is duly
elected Mayor of said Town, and Mason A Vaughan, Andrew L. Graham,
William A. House and Jack H. White, are duly elected members of
the Council of said Town.

Councilman McCarthy nominated S. G. Frye for Vice-
Mayor, which nomination was seconded by Councilman Aust, and carried,

HOLYFIELD TO Manager and that the present Town Clerk, Town Attorney, Town Treasurer,
CONTINUE Chief of Police, Chief of Fire Department, Superintendent of Water
AS ACTING Department and Public Works, a nd the three Issuing Justices (Mrs.
TOWN MGR. & Caves, Frank Swain and Rudolph Elkins) be c ontinued in office with

Council, held September 3, 1968, at 4:00 P. M., in the Municipal
Office.
There were present: Mayor C. Robert Edens, presiding.
Councilmen: Raymond F. Ratcliff, William House, T. J.

Minutes of a special meeting of August 29th were approved
as recorded.
Mayor Edens advised that this was the time and place
for holding: .a public ,hearing on trailer applications, the first being

OF R. COMBS appeared to be no opposition to this application, and on the

APPROVED recommendation of Acting Town Pdanager Holyfield, Councilman Aust moved
that the application be approved, which motion was seconded by Council-
man Frye, and carried.
The application of Olive Alston to place a trailer on
908 Jackson Avenue was considered. There was no opposition to this, and
upon recommendation of Acting Town Manager Holyfield, Councilman Graham
moved the application be approved, which motion was seconded by Council-
man Ratcliff, and carried.
Acting Town Manager Holyfield read a letter from the Pulaski
LETTER OF Merchants Council thanking Mayor Jackson and Mr. Norton for helping to

Councilman Frye moved that the matter of opening Elizabeth
Street be referred to the Street Committee for further study. The

Councilman Ratcliff moved that the town carry an advertise-
ment in the September 1969 issue of the League Magazine in the amount

Mr. Holyfield stated he had an applic ation from Claude Martin
of Dora Highway for a sewer line installation, the total cost to be $640.
with Mr. Martin paying $320.00. There were five (5) houses in this
