V. Jackson, presiding. Councilmen: W. A. Larson, T. J. McCarthy, Glen K. Aust, P. L. Carrico, W. S. Cummings Absent: Bi11y B. Flint, Claude B. Gallimore and Eugene L. Nuckols Also present: Town Manager: T. B. Noland Clerk: Gladys R. Dalton Town Attorney: Garnett S. Moore Visitors: Jim Terrell, reporter for Southwest Times Irlrs. J. F. Spencer E. V. Davis Mrs. Edythe Harlow The invocation was given by Councilman Aust. Minutes of the regular meeting of December Ltth were approved as corrected. Mayor Jackson advised that as had been advertised in the local newspaper and as reouired under Chapter 18 of the Town Code, this was the time and place for a public hearing b,y Council for the purpose of determining the number of public vehicles, taxicabs and for hire cars for which certificates shall be PUBLIC HEARING ON CERTIFICAT- issued during the calendar year 19b3. Upon the recommendation ES FOR TAXI OPERATORS of Town Manager Noland, on motion of Councilman McCarthy, seconded - 32 GRANTED by Councilman Aust, and carried unanimously, it was RESOLVED that Certificates of Public Convenience and Necessity be granted to: City Cabs of Pulaski, Inc. -------------- ------- 10 Estel V. Mr. Aust as Chairman of the Fire Committee advised that it was the recommendation of that committee that $2,000.00 be taken from the budgeted gire Department Equipment Reserve Fund, to be used l to purchase thirty - two (32) Plectron alerting devices for installation in homes of the volunteer firemen; the balance of approximately RECOMMENDATION OF FIRE 8~ FINANCI~1.,300.00 to be paid in July of 1963, which arrangement was agreeable' COMMS. Councilman Cummings VOL.FIREMEN ACCEPTED moved that the recommendation of the Fire and Finance Committees be accepted and an order be placed for the purchase of the alerting devises. This motion was seconded by Councilman Larson, and carried unanimously. Town Attorney Moore, reported upon several legal matters TOWN ATTY. which had been referred to him by Counci_1, none of which required act~.on REPORTS ON LEGAL MATTERS, by Council at this time, but would be presented later. NO ACTION NECESSARY The matter of paying volunteer firemen for attending ~two+ drills each month during the winter months instead of the present FINANCE COMM. TU CONS7:DER policy of one drill, was discussed, and Councilman Carrico moved that. REQ. FOR PAYING VOL. the matter be worked out by the Finance Committee, which motion was FIREMEN FOR 2 DRILLS EA, seconded by Councilman Cummings, and carried unanimously. MONTH Councilman Carrico moved that Monday, December 2l~, 1962 be granted to town employees as an additional holiday.
