Farmer Mrs. J. F. Spencer Miss Elizabeth Bonham The invocation was given by Councilman Aust. Minutes of the meeting of January 15th were approved. Mr. W. G. Cox requested Council to cinsider extending the sewer line from Alum Spring Road up Snider Lane to a residence which he now has under construction on Snider Lane, which would be a distance of approximately 350 feet from the manhole on Alum Spring Road. Mr:: Cox further stated that four other parties on Snider Lane were w.g.cox request interested in this sewer line and that he (Mr. Cox) was prepared to FOR SEWER LINE E~CT. TO SNIDER LANE REF. TO pay for five connection fees at that time. Town Manager Noland SEWER COMM. TOWN MGR. advised that an extension to serve the five houses, a distance of REPORTBD ON CtJST ESTIMATE 1270 feet, would cost approximately $4,000.00, and to extend the line only to the property of Mr. Gox would cost approximately $1~i00.(~0. Councilman Aust moved that the matter be turned over to the Sewer Committee for a report at the next meeting of Council, which motion was seconded by Councilman Larson, and carried unanimously. Councilman Gallimore advised that the Police Committee and Finance Committee had met that day and it was the recommendation of the Police Committee that a part-time secretary be employed for use in the Police Department and also in the office of the Mayor. At this time Councilman Larson stated the Finance Committee felt that this part-time secretary was definitely needed and it was its recommendation that the Town Manager proceed to hire someone for this work, with a salary of approximately $1200.00 a year. Councilman Nuckols moved that the Town Manager PART-TIME SEC. Councilman Gallimore moved that the recommendation of the Water Committee be accepted, which motion was seconded by Councilman Larson, and carried unanimously. After a discussion of the need for sewer line extensions, Councilman McCarthy moved that the Sewer Committee make a study ALL SEWER LINE EXTENSION REQS. of all the sewer line needs in town and report to Council.
