HomeMy WebLinkAbout10-10-63~~~ Minutes of a reconvened meeting of the T'ulaski Town Council, held in the Municipal Office at l~:00 P. M., on October 10, 1963, said meeting having been recessed on the 8th day of October, 1963. There were present: Mayor C. V. Jackson, presiding. Councilmen: Glen K. Aust, W. A. Larson, W. S. Cummings, T. J. McCarthy, Eugene L. Nuckols, C. B. Gallimore Absent: Billy B. Flint and F. L. Carrico Also present: Town Manager: T. B. Noland C1 erk: Gladys R. Dalton Town Attorney: Garnett S. Moore Visitors: Midge Woodard, Southwest Times Fred. Loeffler, Roanoke Times The invocation was given by Councilman Gallimore. Mayor Jackson stated this to be a reconvened meeting of the meeting held on October 8th, for the purpose of considering the petition of Coleman Furniture Corporation for the closing of Alleys One, Two and 125 feet of Alley No. Three, as set forth in the petition. It was brought to the attention of Council that the agreement which Mr. Gilmer had stated was being prepared had been signed shortly after the public hearing on ORDINANCE TO BE Tuesday, October 8th, which agreement was between the Coleman PREPARED CLOSING ALLEY ONE AND TWO Furniture Corporation and Mr. Karres, and that the A & P Grocery & 12.5 FT OF ALLEY N0. THREE AS PET. Company was in agreement with same. It was also brought out BY COLEMAN FURN. that it was understood that all opposition from abutting owners to the closing of the 125 foot portion of Alley No. Three (3) of said petition, had been withdrawn. Councilman Nucko~s so moved that in view of the report of the viewers and of the withdrawal of any opposition, that the Town Attorney be directed to prepare an ordinance closing Alley No. One and Number Two and 125 feet of Alley No. Three, as petitioned by the Coleman Furniture Corporation, reserving any water or sewer easements, or for such drains as are now located in said alleys. This motion was seconded by Councilman Larson, and carried on the following vote: C. B. Gallimore -aye W. S. Cummings -a ye Eugene L.Nuckols - aye W. A. Larson -aye Glen K. Aust - aye Billy B. A report was submitted to Council giving an estimat e of the cost of water and sewer services to the Loving Field Industrial Site, and there followed a lengthy discussion of these TOWN REPORT estimates. In considering this report, Councilman Larson moved COST 0~' 'MATER & SEWER SERVS. that the sum of $5,000.00 should be added to contingencies TO LOVING FLD. INDUSTRIAL to the sewer line estimate, making the total estimate $55,1164.80; DARK SITE and also add $5,000.00 to contingencies to the water estimate, making the total water estimate $69,161~.1~1t. This motion was seconded by Councilman McCarthy, and carried unanimously. ~-` A map was displayed showing the route of the proposed sewer line to the Loving Field Industrial Park Site, and there was a discussion relative to securing rights of way for this line. MAP DISPLAYED SHOWING ROUTE Councilman Nuckols moved that Town Manager Noland be authorized OF PROPOSED SEWER LINE TO to contact the property owners through whose property the sewer LOVING FIELD IND. PARK line would be located and secure options or easements, for which easement one connection would be given to each property owner.
