HomeMy WebLinkAbout02-07-643832 At the request of Mayor C. V. Jackson, a special meeting of the Pulaski Town Council was called for 3:15 P. M. on February 7, 19611, in the Municipal office, to again con- sider a proposal by representatives of Virginia Maid Hosiery Mills, for the closing of Lee Street. There were present: Mayor C. V. Jackson, presiding. Councilmen: C. B. Gallimore, Eugene L. Nuckols, F. L. Carrico, Billy B. Flint, Glen K. Aust, W. S. Cummings, W. A. Larson, T. J. McCarthy Also present: Town Manager: T. B. Noland Clerk: Gladys R. Dalton Town Attorney: Alan Groseclose On motion of Councilman Nuckols, seconded by Councilman Cummings, and carried on the following vote: W. A. Larson - aye F. L. Carrico - aye W. S. Cummings - aye Billy B. Flint - aye T. J. McCarthy - aye Eugene L.Nuckols - aye Glen K. Aust - not voting C. B. Gallimore - aye it was, RESOLVED, that the action taken by Council on June 20, 1963, as recorded in Minute Book 23, at page 3716, regarding the closing of Lee Street be rescinded and that the Town Attorney be directed to draw an ordinance which would close Lee Street from First Street south to a point 18 feet south to the 12 TOWN ATTY. DIRECTED TO foot right-of-way line of the alley running between Lee Street DRAW ORDINANCE TO CLOSE LEE and Jefferson Avenue, subject to the petitioners providing STREET; VA.MAID eighteen (18) additional feet to add to the 12 ft. existing TO PROVIDE 18 ADDL.FEET TO alley and petitioners completing this 30 foot area into a PRESENT12 FT. ALLEY street according to town specifications and subject to the approval of the Town Manager, and subject to the further con- dition that if any water or sewer lines have to be changed that the petitioners bear the expense thereof and that said utilities be removed according to the town's regulations, and, if necessary, easements be reserved in the present Lee Street for utilities that will have to go therein; and that the construction of the 30 ft. 1 1 1 Council mins. contd. i 33 Feb. 79 1964, 3:15 P. M. street may be done by the town at the expense of the petitioners, and upon the final adoption of an ordinance abandoning and vacating that portion of Lee Street, described above.
