M. in the Municipal office. presiding. There were present: Mayor C. V. Jackson, Councilmen: C. B. Gallimore, Billy B. Flint, F. L. Carrico, T. J. McCarthy, W. S. Cummings, ?^i. A. Larson Glen K. Campbell, Christ 7niscopal Church Miss Mayme McCoy, Pulaski High School Teacher & Advisor Mrs. Chas. Crawford, representing the Madeline Harman Woman's Club, Snonsor Pulaski High School Youth Officials Jack Chaffin - Mayor John Coker - Town Attorney Richard Clark - Town Manager Flaine Albert - Clerk Marie Worrell Tony Blair Diane Creger Judy Gallimore Bobby Lemons Kathy Sheets Sharon Ratcliff Susie Haggerty Councilmen The invocation was given by the Rev. John R. Campbell, pastor of Christ Episcopal Church. Minutes of the meeting of April 7th were approved. Mayor Jackson cordially welcomed the Youth Officials from the Pulaski High School, Miss McCoy and Mrs. Crawford. Mayor Jackson then declared the meeting to be a public hearing, as advertised, and stated that Council would be glad to hear anyone who wished to be heard either for or against the application of COUNCIL Mrs. Stella Murphy for placing a house trailer on her property on Vallev APPROVES HOUSE TRAILER Road. There appeared to be no one present who wished to be heard. OF MRS. STELLA Town Manager Noland advised that the trailer which Mrs. Murphy planned MURPHY to purchase is a 1963 model 3 -bedroom trailer, to cost approximately `$61200.00 and that the topography is such that the placing of this house trailer would not crowd the lot. Mr. Noland recommended to Council that the application be approved. "pril 2.2, 1961,, that the recommendation of Town Manager Noland be accepted and the application of Mrs. Stella Murphy to place a house trailer on Valley Road be granted. The application of Donald L. Reservoir Committee, TRAILER WITHDRAWN presented by Mr. McCarthy, and put in the form of a motion, which motion was seconded by Councilman Cummings, and carried unanimously, it was, RESOLVED, that privately owned electric motors wculd be permitted on town -own ?d boats for fishing on Gatewood Reservoir. The Sewer Committee recommended teat the town proceed with the installation of an extension of the Sanitary Sewer line to serve the SANITARY SEWER EXT. Mr. Carrico stated that the rfrnuest for sanitary sewer services to Snider Lane was still under ccnsideration and his committee hoped to make a report to Council at it's next meeting. As to establishing a sewage connection fee policy, Councilman Carrico ,advised that the Sewer Committee recommended that Council instruct! SEWER COMM. the Town Attorney to draw up an ordinance specifying that where sewer RECOMDS. ORDINANCE service is available and the people have not paid for their connection fee; ON SEWER CONNECT. that if they pay their connection fee within six months after the date FEES of the passage of the ordinance they it II be charged with the prevailing rate, but i.f they do not pay within six, months, then the fee will be double the prevailing rate. Mayor Jackson stated that next week had been designated as "Clean-up Week"; that recently the Police Department had doubled their efforts to interest property owners and businesses to clean CLENN-UP WEEK up and keep clean their properties. Mayor Jackson told the youth group he felt they could help also by keeping their school cleaner, and it would be a good topic for them to use for their mock council meeting. Youth Mayor Jack Chaffin introduced the youth officials and members of the Youth Council. He also invited Mayor. Jackson and members YOUTH MAYOR of his Council to attend their mock council meeting to be held on May INTRODUCES MEMBERS OF 1st. There followed a question and answer period between the two groups.
