Mr. Sadler advised that the sixty days which Council
had granted Mrs. Fdythe Harlow to get her taxi business back in opera-
tion had expired, and on behalf of the taxicab operators present,
asked Council to consider reducing the number of cabs to twenty-
five as other operators go out of business - the number now in operation
being less than thirty. Councilman Nuckol.s moved that the request
be referred to the Police Committee for investigation and report
to Council; that the Police Committee give notire to the taxicab
owners to appear at the Council meeting if they so desire. This
motion was seconded by Councilman McCarthy, and carried unanimously.
Mr. Sadler suggested that the Police Committee make a study of the
taxi situation; take a look at the records of their operations and
see if they can come up with a suggestion to relieve the situation as
they cannot make a decent living at the present taxi rates. It was
agreed by Council that the Police Committee would also make this
study and would include same in their report to the Council.
Mr. Sadler presented Nr. T^T. Marion Palmer, who repre-
sents City Cable company of Rogersville, Tennessee, and requested
Council to consider the adoption of an ordinance allowing this
Cable company to install cable television within the corporate
limits. It was brought out in the discussion that this is a
growing business and would mean a full --time office in Pulaski.
Mr. Palmer stated his company would have to make arrangements
with the local utility companies to use their poles for their lines;
that a X10.00 hook-up fee would be charged, plus th.R5 per month
for cable service. On motion of Councilman Flint, seconded by
Councilman Cummings, and carried, it was, RFSOLVFD, that the matter
be referred to the Ordinance Committee.
Mr. M. J. Haken of the Karres Construction Company
-?rrVr;^rcd before Council and advised that it had been found that an
V" water main was approximately six inches over on the property
being developed by Karres for lease to the A & P Grocery Company,
