Mr. C. V, Jackson appeared before Council on behalf of the Comm-

System for the New River Valley Airport. Mr. Jackson stated
the total cost of the equipment was $84,000.00 of which amount
the Federal Aviation Agency would pay 75%, and it would then be
up to the area governing bodies to pledge the remaining $21,000.
The Town Council was asked to pledge 22.9% ($4,809.00) as its
share. Mr. Jackson advised the Council it could appropriate the
money in its 1974 budget, but that the Airport Commission had
to indicate the money was pledged, or in sight to be able to
close the deal. He stated the City of Radford had already made
their commitment. Councilman Vaughan moved that the Council pledge
itself for an amount not to exceed $5,000.00, and that the Finance
Committee bring back a recommendation as to how it will be paid .
