Council minutes
Dec. 30, 1958, I~ p. m.
An adjourned meeting of the Pulaski Town Council was
held in the Town office at !~ p. m., on December 30, 1958.
There were present: rlayor C. V. Jackson, presiding.

John W. Nash, W. F. White
Also present: Town Manager: T. B. Noland
Town Attorney: Garnett S. Moore
Chief of Police: Earl Bouldin
Visitors: Evelyn S. Hall, reporter for the Southwest Tres
Mayor C. V. Jackson called the meeting to order, and thee;
invocation was pronounced by Councilman F. L. Carrico.
On motion of Mr. White, seconded by Mr. Larson and carri~d
on the unanimous vote of those present, it was I
RESOLVED, that Town Manager Noland be designated as F
temporary Clerk for this meeting.
Following a discussion of the taxi cab situation,
during which it was pointed out that since 1951 the maximum number ',;
of cabs had been forty (J~0) but, in response to the legal notice '
which had been published in the Southwest Times in accordance with
Town Code provisions applications for convenience and necessity
had been submitted for a total of only thirty-four (3~.) taxi cabs. ;These
thirty-four (3t~) applications were made by eight (8) operators.
Upon the recommendation of the Chief of Police and the
Town Manager, and on motion made by Mr. W. F. White, seconded by
Mr. T. J. McCarthy and carried unanimously, it was
RESOLVED, that a certificate of public convenience and

On motion made by Mr, W. F. White, seconded by
Mr. T. J. McCarthy, and carried unanimously, it was
RESOLVED, that all certificates of public convenience
and necessity heretofore granted by the Council for the current
year for the operation of taxis remain in effect and may be
transferred to new owners by approval of Council pursuant to
the provisions of the existing ordinance, and that such certifi-
Cates of convenience and necessity as are now in effect may be
renewed annually or upon approval of the Council, and that, in
the event of the discontinuance of operations by a holder of
any such certificate, such certificate shall be automatically
revoked; and be it further
RESOLVED, that no additional or new certificates, except
transfers or renewals of existing certificates will be authorized
by Council in excess of such certificates for thirty-~i~e (35)
vehicles.
