Policy on Committee Appointments
WHEREAS, the Town Council of the Town of Pulaski, Virginia desires that vacancies on Town
Committees be filled in an orderly process such as to keep said committees, boards and
authorities fully staffed to the benefit of the Town and its citizens;
NOW THEREFORE be it RESOLVED by the Town Council sitting in regular session this 15tH
day of April 2014 that the following provisions are hereby the policy for filling vacancies on Town
boards, committees and authorities,
General Policy:
1. Candidates for committee membership shall file a Town Volunteer Committee Application
with the Town.
2. Prospective committee members shall be residents within the corporate limits of the
Town having both their abode and domicile within the Town's corporate limits.
3. Whenever possible, the membership of each committee shall be mutually exclusive and
distinct from the membership of other committees.
Advertisement/Recruitment Policy
4. Inquire if outgoing members wish to be reappointed.
5. Inquire if Council, staff or committee members know or have been approached by an
interested citizen wanting to serve then provide the citizen with a volunteer application
form.
6. Advertise on the Town's social mediae or Town Website and have the volunteer
application form available to be downloaded from these sites and submitted electronically
to the Town.
7. Display ad in the local newspapers seeking interested candidates that would provide
contact information for potential applicants to get volunteer application form or have a
form as part of the ad that could be clipped out and sent in to the Town.
This resolution is effective upon adoption and is hereby adopted this 15th day of April 2014 by the duly
recorded vote of the Town Council of the Town of Pulaski, Virginia as follows:
