Ordinance Approving a Special Exception
for 6 West Main Street
WHEREAS Elks B.P.O. #1067, owner; Corey Pless, agent; applied for a special exception
under Section 411.3-2 of the Zoning Regulations of the Town of Pulaski, Virginia, to establish
a pet shop at 6 West Main Street within the Elks building; and,
WHEREAS the subject property is zoned B-3 Central Business District and is identified as
Tax Map No. 072-051-0019, 0021, 0023, 0025 and 0027; and,
WHEREAS, after advertisement required by law, the Planning Commission and Town
Council conducted a joint hearing on April 1, 2014, wherein: the comments and concerns of
the public were heard; the factors listed in Section 702.4-5 of the Zoning Regulations of the
Town of Pulaski, Virginia were considered by the Planning Commission and by Town
Council; and, the recommendation of the Planning Commission was reviewed and
considered by Town Council; and,
WHEREAS the Town Council did consider and found as fact that the proposed special
exception is compatible with the surrounding uses, is consistent with the intent of the Zoning
Regulations and the Comprehensive Plan, is in the public interest, and will comply with other
provisions of law and ordinances of the Town of Pulaski,
NOW, THEREFORE be it ORDAINED by the Town Council of the Town of Pulaski, Virginia
sitting in regular session this 15th day of April 2014, that the application of Elks B.P.O. #1067,
owner; Corey Pless, agent; for a special exception to establish a pet shop at 6 West Main
Street, is hereby approved provided that no animals scientifically classified as Mammalia
exceeding 10 lbs. in weight shall be displayed or sold therein.
This ordinance is effective upon adoption and is hereby adopted this 15th day of April 2014
by the duly recorded vote of the Town Council of the Town of Pulaski, Virginia as follows:
