Resolution Requesting the Pulaski County Board of Supervisors
Support for the Reconstruction of Exit 94-Interstate 81
WHEREAS, the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) is receiving comments from
localities concerning its Six Year Improvement Plan for Urban Priorities; and
WHEREAS, Exit 94 of Interstate 81, located in Pulaski County, provides access to the
Town of Pulaski via Route 99 and is of interest to both the Town and County for potential
economic development that would benefit both localities; and
WHEREAS, the exit has seen limited improvements since its initial construction and, due
to the increased volume of traffic on Interstate 81, has become a safety concern with
respect for vehicles both entering and leaving the exit, which in turn is seen as a detriment
to the development potential of the Route 99 Corridor for both the Town and County; and
WHEREAS, VDOT may receive comments and recommendations from the Pulaski County
Board of Supervisors concerning potential changes to the Six Year Improvement Plan
concerning Exit 94;
NOW, THEREFORE, be it RESOLVED by the Town Council of the Town of Pulaski,
Virginia sitting in regular session this 7t" day of January 2014 that the Town Council
requests the support of the Pulaski County Board of Supervisors in referring the
reconstruction of Exit 94 of Interstate 81 to the Virginia Department of Transportation for
inclusion into the Six Year Improvement Plan for Urban Priorities due to safety concerns
and the potential economic development of the Route 99 Corridor that would benefit both
the Town and the County.
This resolution is effective upon adoption and is duly adopted this 7t" day of January 2014
by the duly recorded vote of the Town Council of the Town of Pulaski, Virginia as follows:
