HomeMy WebLinkAbout2015-16 ORDINANCE 2015-16 Ordinance Amending Use of Paid and Unpaid Leave WHEREAS, the administration has determined that an amendment to the Personnel Manual is necessary regarding the use of paid and unpaid leave; and, WHEREAS, it is the recommended to the Town Council that any time, including paid vacation or other forms of leave time accrued in excess of maximum accruable hours, be utilized by the employee first before unpaid sick leave is used; NOW, THEREFORE be it ORDAINED by the Town Council of the Town of Pulaski, Virginia sitting in regular session this 21st day of July 2015, that the following paragraph of the Personnel Manual on page 6-8 be amended to read as follows: "An employee who is taking FMLA leave because of the employee's own serious health condition or the serious health condition of a family member must use all paid vacation, personal or sick leave prior to being eligible for unpaid leave. Sick leave may be run concurrently with FMLA leave if the reason for the FMLA leave is covered by the established sick leave policy. Employees are required to utilize all paid vacation or other forms of leave hours in excess of maximum accruable hours as established in this manual prior to utilizing sick leave." This ordinance is effective upon adoption and is hereby adopted by the duly recorded vote of the Town Council of the Town of Pulaski, Virginia sitting in regular session this 21st day of July 2015 as follows: Heather L.
