Ordinance Amending the Personnel Manual
To Include a Confidentiality and Non-Disclosure Statement
WHEREAS, employees may have access to proprietary, personal or other information
either in written or verbal form of a confidential nature relating to the operations,
departments, agencies or personnel of the Town or firms doing business with the Town
who also may possess proprietary and privacy rights; and,
WHEREAS, disclosure of such confidential information could adversely affect the interests,
legal standing and operations of the Town or firms doing business with the Town; and,
WHEREAS, Town Council, after receiving the advice and counsel of the Administration,
has determined that a policy governing disclosure of confidential information should be
incorporated into the personnel manual of the Town;
NOW, THEREFORE be it ORDAINED by the Town Council of the Town of Pulaski,
Virginia, sitting in regular session this 16th day of February 2016, that a "Confidentiality and
Non-Disclosure Statement", as shown in Attachment A-Ordinance 2016-04, affixed hereto
and expressly made part of this ordinance, shall be included in the Town of Pulaski
Personnel Manual.
FURTHER ORDAINED that each employee of the Town shall be required to sign the
"Acknowledgement and Agreement "portion of said statement, which shall be placed in the
employee's personnel file by the Human Resource Manager.
The ordinance is effective upon adoption and is hereby adopted this 16t" day of February
2016 by the duly recorded vote of the Town Council of the Town of Pulaski, Virginia as
follows:

CONFIDENTIALITY & NON-DISCLOSURE STATEMENT
As an employee of the Town of Pulaski, you have access to proprietary, personal and other
confidential information relating to Town business, as well as information maintained by Town
departments and agencies, which must be kept confidential.
As an employee of the Town of Pulaski, you may have access to and hear a great deal of sensitive
information which may be confidential, proprietary, or both in nature; including conversations with
key Town officials, employees and staff. Such information may be in written or verbal form.
Employees may not disclose or access information for any purpose that is not specifically
job related. Violation of this policy could subject employees tocivil or criminal penalties, in
addition to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
ACKNOWLEDGEMENT & AGREEMENT
As an employee of the Town of Pulaski, I agree to keep confidential all information disclosed to or
obtained by me in the course of my employment that relates.to the business of the Town of Pulaski
or any other employee or citizen, unless such disclosure is required by law, through
supervisor/subordinate relationship or the information is readily available in the public domain. I
also agree not to access or copy information relating to the business or other Town departments,.
agencies or offices unless such access or copying is related to the specific responsibilities
assigned to me in the performance of my job. I agree to keep confidential all protected and
privileged information about,the Town of Pulaski or any company doing business with the Town_of
Pulaski or where any other proprietary or privacy rights exist which I have knowledge of or access
to. I understand that violating,this agreement may subject me to civil or criminal penalties,
as well as discipline, up to and including termination.
