Resolution Proclaiming the Month of May as
Virginia Business Appreciation Month
WHEREAS, Virginia businesses play a vital role in the life of the Commonwealth by
creating and sustaining the employment of nearly 3.1 million persons as well as producing
over $462 billion in goods and services; and
WHEREAS, the Commonwealth's businesses provide a wide variety of services and
commodities both nationally and internationally including agricultural products, chemicals,
computer and electronic products, energy, transportation equipment and machinery; and,
WHEREAS, Virginia is home to a wide variety of businesses from Fortune 500 companies
to single proprietorships all of which play a pivotal role in the life and health of both the
Commonwealth and the individual communities in which they are located; and,
WHEREAS, given the essential role that businesses play in Virginia, the Council has
determined that it is fitting to offer our citizens the opportunity to recognize both Virginia
businesses and local business for their essential contributions made to the local and state
economy;
NOW, THEREFORE be it RESOLVED by the Town Council of the Town of Pulaski,
Virginia, sitting in regular session this 5th day of April 2016, that the Council does hereby
declare the month of May as "Virginia Business Appreciation Month" and urges citizens to
support both local and state businesses to further strengthen our community and the
Commonwealth as a whole.
This resolution is effective upon adoption and is hereby adopted by the duly recorded vote
of the Town Council of the Town of Pulaski, Virginia sitting in regular session this 5th day of
April 2016 as follows:
