Resolution Designating the Week of July 24th
as Southwest Times Week
WHEREAS, the Town Council of the Town of Pulaski desires to recognize and commend
those businesses within the town that have made lasting contributions to the community;
and,
WHEREAS, the Southwest Times first began publication in 1906 and this year will observe
its 110th year of service to the Town of Pulaski and its citizens; and,
WHEREAS, throughout the majority of the Town of Pulaski's history, the Southwest Times
has chronicled the life of the town through its reporting of local, state and national news
events and their impact on our community; and,
WHEREAS, in the role of a hometown newspaper,. the Southwest Times also focused on
the lives of the citizens of the Town, highlighting their struggles, their achievements and
their unique outlook on life as our community moved through the many changes and
challenges encountered over the years;
NOW, THEREFORE be it RESOLVED by the Town Council of the Town of Pulaski,
Virginia, sitting in regular session this 5th day of July 2016, that the Town Council does
hereby proclaim that the week of July 24th is hereby declared "Southwest Times Week" in
recognition of the 110 years of service by the Southwest Times to the Town of Pulaski and
its citizens.
FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Town Council encourages the Town's citizens to continue
their support of the Southwest Times and all Town businesses to strengthen and support
our community in promoting continuing improvement and progress in the life of the Town.
This resolution is effective upon adoption and is hereby adopted this 5th day of July 2016
by the duly recorded vote of the Town Council of the Town of Pulaski as follows:
