A Resolution of Appreciation to Joseph L. Sheffey
for His Service to the Citizens of Pulaski County
WHEREAS, the Town Council of the Town of Pulaski, Virginia desires to recognize and
honor those persons in the community who have freely given of their time and talents in
dedicated service to the Town and the community at large; and,
WHEREAS, Joseph L. Sheffey has rendered a lifetime of service to the citizens of Pulaski
County as: an educator and administrator at New River Community College; a member of
the Pulaski County Board of Supervisors; and as a representative of the community on the
boards of various governmental and private organizations; and,
WHEREAS, during his tenure as Chairman and Member of the Board of Supervisors, Mr.
Sheffey supported several important initiatives that were of great benefit to the Town of
Pulaski including: moving the Governor's School into the Town; construction of Pulaski
Elementary School; reconstruction of the Pulaski County Courthouse; supporting the
location and expansion of James Hardie Building Products within the Town limits; and
assisting with making resources and personnel available to the Town during the recovery
from the Tornado Emergency of April 2011;
NOW, THEREFORE be it RESOLVED by the Town Council of the Town of Pulaski,
Virginia sitting in regular session this 1St day of December 2015, that the Town hereby
extends its deepest thanks and appreciation to Mr. Joseph L. Sheffey for his public service and
personal efforts to improve the lives of the citizens of the Town and the community at large.
BE it FURTHER RESOLVED that the Town Council extends to Mr. Sheffey its best wishes
for a fulfilling, enjoyable and well deserved retirement.
This resolution is effective upon adoption and is hereby adopted this 1St day of December
2015 by the duly recorded vote of the Town Council as follows:
