A Resolution Recognizing the Life and Service
of
Elbert G. Black, Jr.
WHEREAS, the Town Council of the Town of Pulaski, Virginia'wishes to recognize those citizens who have
rendered exemplary'service.to our community;. and,
I:
WHEREAS, Elbert G.: Black, Jr., a' longtime resident of the Town of Pulaski,:loved and'served his community
with many acts of selfless giving and service; and,

WHEREAS, following - service ""in'th,e U.S-,,Air Force, Mr. Black attended National; Business College, where
after graduation he as proudly employed by Norfolk and Western Railroad for 35 years; and
WHEREAS, after his.retirement, Mr.. Black served his community -as amember. of Town Council for eight
years (1992-1996; 2000-2004); Was an, active member in the First United Methodist Church; served as a
volunteer at the Lewis-Gale Hospital -Pulaski; and was a certified caregiver to many citizens in the Town; and,
WHEREAS, "Junior", as he wascalled,, was widely known for his considerable talent and skill as a chef and a
caterer who was greatly sought after for receptions,' gatherings and special events due to his skill in preparing
an astonishing variety of dishes.and desserts which everyone agreed, were absolutely. unsurpassed;
WHEREAS, after along life 'of serving and giving his community,,family and friends, Elbert G. Black, Jr.
passed away on August 21, 2021;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT. RESOLVED, by the Town Council of the Town of Pulaski, Virginia sitting in regular
session this 7th day"of. September 2021; thb, t the Town Council hereby comment the life and service of
Elbert G. Black, Jr. for -his long service to his farnily,,friends and community.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Town Counckil and employees of the Town of Pulaski extends their
deepest condolences to the family and friends of Elbert G. Black, Jr.
This resolution is effective upon adoption a'nd is hereby adopted this 7th day of September 2021 by the duly
recorded vote of the Town Council of the Town; of Pulaski, Virginia as follows:
