Resolution in Observance of National Fire Prevention Week
WHEREAS, in 1922 the National Fire Protection Association sponsored the public observance of Fire
Prevention Week; and,
WHEREAS, in 1925 President Calvin Coolidge proclaimed Fire Prevention Wek a national observance,
making it the longest -running public health observance in the country; and,
WHEREAS, in observance of this week, the Town Council desires to recognize the local firefighters of
the Town of Pulaski Fire Department who are dedicated to put the needs of their community above their
own as they respond to crises, save lives, and serve their community; and,
WHEREAS, it is vital the we share our appreciation for the selfless firefighters who provide lifesaving
services every day and risk their lives each time they answer the call of service; and,
WHEREAS, Fire Prevention Week educates children and adults on how to stay safe in case of a fire
and firefighters provide lifesaving public education in an effort to decrease casualties caused by fires;
and,
WHEREAS, the week of October 9th -15th is an opportunity to honor the men and women who provide
services to the citizens of the Town of Pulaski; and,
NOW, THEREFORE it be RESOLVED by the Town Council of the Town of Pulaski, Virginia sitting
in regular session this 4th day of October 2022 that the Town Council as part of National Fire Prevention
Week does hereby recognize and commend the firefighter's dedication to the community and their
fellow citizens.
This resolution is effective upon adoption and is hereby adopted the 4th day of October 2022 by the duly
recorded vote of the Town Council of Pulaski, Virginia as follows:
