Resolution to Request Amendments to the Town of Pulaski Town Charter
WHEREAS, the Town of Pulaski has held a properly noticed public hearing pursuant to Va.
Code § 15.2-202 for citizens to have the opportunity to determine if the citizens of the locality
desire that the Town of Pulaski request the General Assembly to grant amendments to the
existing Town Charter; and
WHEREAS, the Town Council of the Town of Pulaski, pursuant to the public hearing and
citizen input, has determined that it is in the best interest of the public and consistent with the
general welfare to request the General Assembly of Virginia to pass legislation allowing the
charter amendments to its existing Town Charter; and
WHEREAS, the attached proposed amendments were published for informative purposes to the
citizens of the Town of Pulaski, as well as to give notice of a public hearing which was held this
day, October 3, 2023.
NOW, THEREFORE it be RESOLVED by the Town Council of the Town of Pulaski,
Virginia, that the attached proposed amendments are in the best interest of the public and
consistent with the general welfare, and that the Town of Pulaski requests the General Assembly
of Virginia to pass legislation allowing the charter amendments to its existing Town Charter.
NOW, THEREFORE it be FURTHER RESOLVED, the Town Council directs the
preparation of necessary documents to send to the General Assembly for the proposed
amendments to be considered; and
NOW, THEREFORE it be FURTHER RESOLVED that the Town of Pulaski respectfully
requests that Senator Travis Hackworth, Delegate Jason Ballard, or other appropriate member of
the General Assembly to introduce on behalf of the Town, the proposed changes to the Town
Charter.
NOW, THEREFORE it be FURTHER RESOLVED by the Town Council of the Town of
Pulaski, Virginia that the General Assembly favorably consider this request at the 2024
Legislative Session.
This resolution is effective upon adoption and is hereby adopted this 3`d day of October 2023, by
the recorded vote of the Town Council of the Town of Pulaski, as follows:
