HomeMy WebLinkAboutDeclaration of Local EmergencyPULASKI Town of Pulaski, Virginia DISCONTINUE DECLARATION OF LOCAL EMERGENCY WHEREAS, on November 7, 2023, Governor Glenn Youngkin declared a State of Emergency for the Commonwealth of Virginia, due to these statewide conditions, and the Town of Pulaski, Virginia followed suit with a Declaration of Local Emergency on November 13, 2023; and, WHEREAS, the Mayor of the Town of Pulaski, Virginia had found due to: 1. Drought and abnormally dry conditions which created a high risk of wildfires, the Town of Pulaski faced dangerous conditions; and, 2. Those drought and dry conditions created an extreme peril to life and property and necessitated a proclamation of a Local Declaration of Emergency. WHEREAS, those drought and dry conditions that compelled and imposed the Local Declaration of Emergency now no longer exists due to adequate precipitation that removed the high risk of wildfires and other adverse and dangerous dry weather conditions. NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY PROCLAIMED that a Local State of Emergency no longer exist throughout the Town of Pulaski, Virginia NOW THEREFORE BE IT FURTHER PROCLAIMED AND ORDERED that all those powers, functions, and duties prescribed by State Law and the Ordinances, Resolutions, and approved plans of the Town of Pulaski, Virginia, in order to effectively mitigate, respond or further prevent the effects of said Local Emergency of the Town of Pulaski, shall hereby cease discontinuance of the Local Declaration of Emergency.
