Resolution Supporting Efforts to Improve the Safety of Route 114 in Montgomery
County and Construction of the Proposed New River Link Road from Route 100 in~-
Pulaski County to V.S. Route 460 in Montgomery County ~ •
WHEREAS, the Town of Pulaski recognizes the importance of supporting regionally _
significant road improvements in the New River Valley because of the benefit to its ''
citizens and the community; and
WHEREAS, Route 114 constitutes a major traffic thoroughfare for the citizens of the
New River Valley; and
WHEREAS, the increase in traffic on Route 114 has resulted in the abhorrent. and..
unacceptable loss of life in vehicle accidents especially during the previous year; and
WHEREAS, the citizens of communities throughout the New River Valley have
expressed both their concern over the loss of life and a desire for a solution tb the heavy
volume of traffic on Route 114;
WHEREAS, a link road has been proposed from Route 100 in Pulaski County to .U.S,
Route 460 in Montgomery County for the purpose of lessening the traffic hazazds on
Route 114;
NOW THERE FORE, be it RESOLVED by the Town Council of the Town of Pulaski,..
Virginia, sitting in regular session on January 20, 1998, that the Town Council supports
the efforts of all citizens and legislators from the New River Valley to secure
improvements to Route 114 and, as part of this effort, supports the construction of the
New River Link Road from Route 100 in Pulasi~i County to U.S. Route 460 in
Montgomery County for the purpose of relieving traffic congestion on Route 114 and
securing the benefits of such a road for all residents of the New River Valley.
This resolution is effective upon adoption and is adopted by recorded vote of the Town
Council of the Town of Pulaski, Virginia, on this 20m day of January 1998 as follows:
