HomeMy WebLinkAbout99-03• RESOLUTION 99-3 RESOLUTION INITIATING ZONING AMENDMENT CONSIDERATION: ADDITION OF RECYCLING CENTERS TO M-2 ZONES AS A CONDITIONAL USE WHEREAS, X15.2-2286 of the Code of Virginia allows zoning ordinance amendments to be initiated by a written resolution of the governing body of a locality, setting forth the public purpose therefore; and, WHEREAS, in considering a recent request to place a recycling center within the Town, the Council found that the Town's existing ordinance does not separately address recycling centers as such; and, WHEREAS, the Town Council found regulations addressing such centers and their location would facilitate the creation of a convenient, attractive, and harmonious community, as well as protecting against encroachment on historic areas; and, would provide for conservation of natural resources; and, WHEREAS, the Town Council found that public necessity, public convenience, the general welfare, and good zoning practices require that the issues of the definition and the placement of such centers be addressed; NOW, THEREFORE, be it RESOLVED by the Town Council of the Town of Pulaski, • Virginia, sitting in regular session on January 19, 1999, that the Town Council does hereby initiate a possible zoning code amendment and does hereby formally refer the same to the Planning Commission of the Town of Pulaski for consideration. The specific amendments to be considered would be to more properly defined and whether they should be allowed in M-2 zones as a conditional use; or, whether such centers should be allowed in other zones either as a matter of right or as a conditional use. This Resolution is effective upon adoption and is adopted by recorded vote of the Town Council of the Town of Pulaski, Virginia, on this 19th day of January, 1999: James M. Neblett Aye W.
