RESOLUTION 99-4
RESOLUTION INITIATING ZONING AMENDMENT CONSIDERATION:
GENERAL REVISIONS TO THE PULASKI ZONING ORDINANCE
WHEREAS, X15.2-2286 of the Code of Virginia allows zoning ordinance amendments to be
initiated by a written resolution of the governing body of a locality, setting forth the public
purpose therefore; and,
WHEREAS, the last comprehensive revision of the Pulaski Zoning Ordinance was in 1987;
and,
WHEREAS, the Town Council finds that public necessity, public convenience, the general
welfare, and good zoning practices require that the zoning ordinance should be reviewed in its
entirety to insure that it still meets the purposes set forth in j15.2-2200 of the Code of Virginia,
and still complies with the provisions of j15.2-2201, et seq., of the Code of Virginia; and,
WHEREAS, X15.2-2286 may not mandate a formal resolution where no specific amendment is
proposed, but the Town Council has determined it is appropriate to adopt a resolution to avoid
any question of compliance;
NOW, THEREFORE, be it RESOLVED by the Town Council of the Town of Pulaski, Virginia,
sitting in regular session on January 19, 1999, that the Town Council does hereby initiate a
possible zoning code amendment and does hereby formally refer the same to the Planning
Commission of the Town of Pulaski for consideration. No specific amendment is requested,
but rather, it is requested that the Planning Commission review the entire existing ordinance
and if, after such review, it has recommendations for specific amendments, to either initiate
consideration of such specific amendments on its own motion or report the same to this
Council for adoption of a formal resolution initiating consideration of specific changes.
This Resolution is effective upon adoption and is adopted by recorded vote of the Town
Council of the Town of Pulaski, Virginia, on this 19th day of January, 1999:
