HomeMy WebLinkAbout99-26RESOLUTION 99-26 • RESOLUTION INITIATING A ZONING AMENDMENT CONSIDERATION: CREATION OF A ZONING DISTRICT FOR RECYCLING WHEREAS, Section 15.2-2286 of the Code of Virginia allows zoning ordinance amendments to be initiated by a written resolution of the governing body of a locality, setting for the public purpose therefore; and, WHEREAS, in considering the recent issue of placing recycling centers within the Town, the Council found that addition of recycling as a conditional use was not a satisfactory approach to zoning this activity within the Town limits; and, WHEREAS, the Town Council found that regulations addressing recycling centers and their location would facilitate the creation of a convenient, attractive, and harmonious community, as well as protecting against encroachment on historic areas; and, would provide for conservation of natural resources; and, WHEREAS, the Town Council found that public necessity, public convenience, the general welfare, and good zoning practices require that the issues of the definition and the placement of such centers be addressed; NOW, THEREFORE, be it RESOLVED by the Town Council of the Town of Pulaski, Virginia, sitting in regular session on June 15, 1999, that the Town Council does hereby initiate a possible • zoning code amendment and does hereby formally refer the same to the Planning Commission of the Town of Pulaski for consideration. The specific amendment to be considered would be to more properly define and to create a zoning district for recycling activities. This Resolution is effective upon adoption and is adopted by recorded vote of the Town council of the Town of Pulaski, Virginia, on this 15th day of June, 1999 as follows: James M. Neblett Aye W.
