HomeMy WebLinkAbout2001-28 RESOLUTION 2001-28 Regarding the Intent of the Town of Pulaski to Purchase 10,000 Shares Together With Other Participating Local Governments in DJOTS (the Pulaski Technology Center) WHEREAS, the town of Pulaski has undertaken an economic development initiative to create jobs within the Pulaski community and the Virginia First Region generally; and, WHEREAS, DJOTS (Dynamic Job Oriented Technology Solutions) has the potential to create 500 jobs within the region during the next six years and is an innovative approach to address problems in rural southwest Virginia, particularly with regard to downtowns; and, WHEREAS, the town of Pulaski will establish the Pulaski Technology Center as both the pilot project and headquarters for this region-wide effort and has involved other agencies and local governments in this effort. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Pulaski that it intends to purchase 10,000 shares initially, payable at approximately $22,000 annually during the next six years as a participant in this project. This Resolution is effective upon adoption and is adopted by recorded vote of the Town Council of the Town of Pulaski, Virginia on this 6`" day of November, 2001 as follows: Jeffrey S.
