A RESOLUTION HONORING CHARLES W. STEWART, JR.
WHEREAS, Charles W. Stewart, Jr. has served faithfully and honorably as a member of
Town Council from July 1, 1996 to June 30, 2000 and as Mayor from July 1, 2000 to
June 30, 2004; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Stewart served on the Finance, Public Operations, and Utilities
Committees, and as the Council Representative on the Town Planning Commission;
and
WHEREAS, in addition to his responsibilities as Mayor and Councilman, Mr. Stewart
capably represented the Town on regional bodies as the New River Valley Planning
District Commission, the Virginia Municipal League, the Virginia First Regional Industrial
Authority, and the Pulaski County Telecommunications Committee; and
WHEREAS, in the course of his service to the Town, Mr. Stewart sought to enhance the
quality of life for Town citizens through the creation of a scenic trail in the Town and
further sought to introduce advanced technology, such as secure broadband and fiber
optic data transmission capabilities, so that the citizens of the Town could avail
~ themselves of the advances in computer and data technology for their benefit.
NOW, THEREFORE be it RESOLVED by the Town Council of the Town of Pulaski,
Virginia sitting in regular session this 6~' day of July 2004, that the Town Council should
and hereby recognizes the significant and lasting contributions of Mr. Stewart and
commends him for his dedication to the Town through his years of service to its citizens.
This resolution is effective upon adoption and is adopted by the Town Council of the
Town of Pulaski, Virginia this 6~' day of July 2004 by recorded vote as follows:
