A RESOLUTION HONORING ANTHONY AKERS
WHEREAS, Anthony Drew Akers was recently honored by the Virginia Junior Chamber
of Commerce of the Virginia Jaycees with the Outstanding Young Virginian Awazd,
which is presented annually to young adults from ages 21 to 40 for making a positive
impact on their communities.
WHEREAS, Anthony Akers will be taken into consideration with two other Outstanding
Young Virginians and many others recognized all over the country for the prestigious
Ten Outstanding Young Americans Awards, presented by the United States Junior
Chamber.
WHEREAS, Anthony Akers is a 1988 graduate of Pulaski County High School and 1992
graduate of Elon College in North Carolina.
WHEREAS, Anthony Akers has shown a tremendous dedication to his community by
returning home to Pulaski County to work with at-risk youth as the Pulaski County
Director of Community Activities.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Town Council of the Town of
Pulaski hereby commends Anthony Drew Akers for his commitment to the youth of the
Town and County, perseverance through the years and enthusiasm for helping others.
This Resolution is effective upon adoption and is adopted this 7th day of June, 2005 by
duly recorded vote of the Town Council as follows:
