RESOLUTION 2006-06
A RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING TOWN OF PULASKI RESIDENT
KATIE EDNEY, BEING NAMED YOUNG MISS COMMONWEALTH 2006
WHEREAS, the Town Council of the Town of Pulaski, Virginia wishes to recognize those
residents of the Town who have distinguished themselves in some field of endeavor by
achieving recognition to the Town; and
WHEREAS, Katie Edney won the title of Young Miss Commonwealth 2006 in the Miss
Commonwealth Pageant against twenty-three national contestants in Williamsburg, Virginia on
February 17-19, 2006; and
WHEREAS, in this competition Miss Edney in her division received first place in the written
essay competition with a perfect score; first place in western wear, and first place informal
wear; and
WHEREAS, Miss Edney won a national scholarship while representing the Town of Pulaski and
Virginia as a Top Ten Finalist in the Miss National Pre-Teen Princess Pageant held last year in
Orlando, Florida; and
WHEREAS, Miss Edney distinguishes herself as a straight A student at Pulaski Middle School,
and is active in her community as a member of the Countywide Choir "The Melodies"; the
Centerstage School of Dance; and the girl's basketball team "Pink Panthers" in the County
Recreation League;
NOW, THEREFORE be it RESOLVED by the Town Council of the Town of Pulaski, Virginia
sitting in regular session this 7th day of March, 2006, that the Town Council extends to Miss
Edney their sincerest congratulations on her achievements and extends to her their best wishes
for continued success in all her many endeavors,
FURTHER, that the Town Council also extends to the family of Miss Edney their congratulations
and appreciation for their dedicated support of their daughter's activities and achievements.
This resolution is effective upon adoption and is hereby adopted this 7th day of March, 2006 by
the duly recorded vote of the Town Council of the Town of Pulaski as follows:
