HomeMy WebLinkAbout2006-15RESOLUTION 2006-15 • A RESOLUTION HONORING BETTYE H. STEGER WHEREAS, Mrs. Bettye H. Steger has served faithfully and honorably as a member of the Town Council of the Town of Pulaski, Virginia from July 1, 1994 to June 30, 2006; and, WHEREAS, Mrs. Steger during her twelve years on Town Council served as a member of the Utilities, Public Operations, Safety and Ordinance Committees, and also served as Chairman of the Ordinance and Human Resources Committees; and, WHEREAS, Mrs. Steger also served as the Vice-Mayor of the Town, the only woman to have held that post in the Town's history; and, WHEREAS, Mrs. Steger became known as the "Town Ambassador" for her visitations to new businesses and persons in the community welcoming them to the Town, and for creating and distributing, on her own initiative, informational packets to give to potential businesses, industries, and persons interested in locating in the Town; and, WHEREAS, Mrs. Steger was also known for her deep concern for the welfare of the community, which was shown in her work with the Crime Watch Committee and for her assistance in setting up "safe homes" in the Town where children needing aid or assistance could go for help, an effort which won her recognition in the regional media, • NOW THEREFORE be it RESOLVED by the Town Council of the Town of Pulaski, Virginia sitting in regular session this 6th day of June 2006, that the Town Council should and does hereby recognize and commend Mrs. Bettye H. Steger for her tireless efforts on behalf of the Town and its citizens during her twelve year tenure as a Councilmember. This Resolution is effective upon adoption and is hereby adopted this 6th day of June 2006 by the duly recorded vote of the Town Council as follows: Jeffrey S.
