RESOLUTION - 92-5
HONORING THOMAS J. BURNETTE
WHEREAS, Police Officer Thomas J. Burnette, a member of the Pulaski
Police Department since 1969 announced his retirement, effective March
1, 1992; and
WHEREAS, the Town of Pulaski hired Police Officer Burnette on
October 27, 1969 as a Patrolman, promoted him to Sergeant on May 12,
1972, and to Lieutenant in 1973; and
WHEREAS, Police Officer Burnette also served as a Shift Commander
and Administrative Police Officer; and
WHEREAS, During his career exceeding twenty-two years with the Town
of Pulaski, Police Officer Burnette served the Pulaski Police Department
and Town citizens with dependability, honesty, courtesy, dignity, and
loyalty; and
• WHEREAS, Police Officer Burnette performed above and beyond the
call of duty and distinguished himself and the Pulaski Police Department
during two hostage situations where he faced personal danger.
NOW, THEREFORE, be it RESOLVED by the Town Council of the Town of
Pulaski, Virginia, sitting in regular session on April 21, 1992, that
the Town should and hereby recognizes the contributions of Police
Officer Burnette to the citizens of the Town of Pulaski and commends him
for his dedication and service.
This resolution is effective upon adoption and is adopted by
recorded vote of the Town Council of the Town of Pulaski, Virginia, on
this 21st day of April, 1992 as follows:
