RESOLUTION - 93-1
HONORING DON E. HOLYCROSS
WHEREAS, Don E. Holycross served as Pulaski Town Manager from January 1,
1990 through January 22, 1993; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Holycross served with dedication to the concepts of
effective and democratic local government and his work merited the
respect and confidence of Town Council, Town employees and the community;
and
WHEREAS, in the spirit of his idol, Thomas Jefferson, Mr. Holycross
believed that the role of government is to serve the people and he
demonstrated his commitment to that ideal every day; and
WHEREAS, as Town Manager, Mr. Holycross created an environment that
inspired excellence and fostered the professional and personal
development of the people he worked with; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Holycross' economic development efforts that have benefitted
the Town include, the completion of the Memorial Drive Shopping Center,
expansion of Pulaski Plaza and Magnox, opening of the C&P Operators
Facility and Urban Development Action Grant Loans to Jefferson Mills,
Pulaski Land Company and E. Sergeant Hoopes; and
~HEREAS, an avid hiker, Mr. Holycross hiked over 500 miles of the
ppalachian Trail and enjoyed every minute of it; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Holycross served all citizens of the Town with fairness,
honesty, integrity, professionalism, kindness and respect.
NOW, THEREFORE, be it RESOLVED by the Town Council of the Town of
Pulaski, Virginia, sitting in regular session on January 19, 1993, that
the Town Council should and hereby recognizes the significant and lasting
contributions of Mr. Don E. Holycross to the citizens of the Town of
Pulaski and commends him for his dedication and public service.
This resolution is effective upon adoption and is adopted by recorded
vote of the Town Council of the Town of Pulaski, Virginia, on this 19th
day of January, 1993 as follows:
