AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF LEASE AGREEMENT
OF CROP AND PASTURE LAND ADJACENT TO LOVING FIELD
WHEREAS, on December 13, 1994, a Public Notice was given soliciting bids for lease of
91.4 acres of crop and pasture land located adjacent to Loving Field; and,
WHEREAS, the Town of Pulaski, Virginia, made notice of its intent to consider
responsible proposals that indicate rental rate, specific property improvements, designated
property usage, and referenced experience in farming, crop management and soil
conservation methods; and
WHEREAS, the Town of Pulaski, Virginia would select the most favorable proposal
based on the aforementioned factors; and
WHEREAS, on December 22, 1994, two (2) bids were received, one from Whitman
Farms, the current lease holder, and one from Wilbert Jones/David Dalton; and
WHEREAS, the Town of Pulaski, Virginia feels the Whitman Farm proposal to be in the
best interest of the Town as it provides for control of multifloral rose, specifies crop
• rotation and good soil management practices and fertilization based on soil sample results;
and
WHEREAS, Whitman Farms has been an excellent tenant for the duration of the current
lease and has an investment in the property and, as an adjoining property owner,
represents a strategic value to the property, and
BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED, the Pulaski Town Council hereby authorizes the
Town Attorney and Town Manager to execute a lease agreement for said property with
Whitman Farms.
This RESOLUTION is effective upon adoption and is adopted by recorded vote of the
Town Council of the Town of Pulaski, Virginia on this 17th day of January, 1995, as
follows:
