HomeMy WebLinkAbout95-17RESOLUTION NO: 95-17 l~ • • WHEREAS, the Pulaski County Board of Supervisors provided for the restoration of the 1896 Pulaski County Old Courthouse following a devastating fire on December 29, 1989, providing office space for the Pulaski County Treasurer and Commissioner of Revenue, with dedication on December 29, 1992; and RESOLUTION OF APPRECIATION TO THE PULASKI COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS WHEREAS, the Old Courthouse is a centerpiece of Pulaski County and the Town of Pulaski, a symbol of pride and a model for other localities; and WHEREAS, the Old Courthouse provides amulti-purpose room for community use; and WHEREAS, the Old Courthouse contains heritage exhibits which celebrate the unique legacies of Pulaski County, with dedication on November 26, 1994; and WHEREAS, A War Memorial has been installed on the front lawn of the Old Courthouse as a lasting tribute to Pulaski County veterans, recognizing those killed in action, missing in action, and prisoners of war in the Revolutionary War, World War II, Korean War, and Vietnam Wat, with dedication on July 4,1995; and e. WHEREAS, the Pulaski County Board,of Supervisors gave loyal support to the Pulaski County citizens whose meritorious efforts brought heritage exhibits and the War Memorial to reality; and WHEREAS, The Old Courthouse and War Memorial preserve Pulaski County history and assure the remembrance of those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Town Council of the Town of Pulaski, Virginia, sitting in regular session on July 18,1995, that sincere appreciation be expressed to the Pulaski County Board of Supervisors for providing for the restoration of the Old Courthouse and installation of the War Memoriak in tribute to Pulaski County veterans. This Resolution is effective upon adoption and is adopted this 18th day of July, 1995, by recorded vote of the Town Council as follows: John A. Johnston Ave John W. Stone AYe Bettye H. Steger AYe W.
