HomeMy WebLinkAbout95-18RESOLUTION NO. 95-18 • HONORING ROSCOE T. COX, JR. WHEREAS, Roscoe T. Cox, Jr., past Director of Pulaski Main Street and Irrterim Director of Economic Development for the Town of Pulaski, has retired effective June 30, 1995; and, WHEREAS, Mr. Cox returned to Pulaski after 30 years with a vision to help Pulasla become the flourishing town that he remembered; and, WHEREAS, Roscoe T. Cox, Jr. tirelessly worked toward filling and renovating the empty buildings on Main Street, creating the theme of Antiques, Art and More; and, WHEREAS, Mr. Cox began advertising promotions to get the Town of Pulaski recognized in the tourism and business industry, utilizing billboards, bumper stickers, various magazine ads and radio and television interviews, striving to spread the word that Pulaski, Virginia is "Open for Business"; and, WHEREAS, Roscoe T. Cox, Jr. raised money and helped organize the first Depot Days 1994 and 1995, along with other festivals and activities designed to bring attention to our Town; and WHEREAS, Mr. Cox utilized his numerous "contacts" to arrange for the donation of office furniture to help set up the new Economic Development office in the Town of Pulaski; and, WHEREAS, Roscoe personally organized weekend golf packages with his many business contacts • in several states in an effort to showcase Pulaski and Southwest Virginia far possible future business verrtures; and, WHEREAS, Mr. Cox arranged for a feature article on Pulaski to be published in "Southern Courrtry Iruis" magazine's June -July, 1995 issue along with other stories in Blue Ridge Business Journal, exc. WHEREAS, Roscoe Cox loves this Town and has been a principal force in its revitalization and renaissance; and NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the Town Council of the Town of Pulaski, Virginia sitting in regular session on August 1, 1995, that the Town Council should and hereby does commend Roscoe T. Cox, Jr. for his contributions and tireless dedication to the Town of Pulaski, and wishes him all the best in his retiremerrt. This resolution is effective upon adoption and is adopted by unanimous vote of the Town Council of the Town of Pulaski, Virginia, on this 1st day of August, 1995.
