HomeMy WebLinkAbout95-22~ r lll~l.Jl~l ~ • V I R G I N 1 A RESOLUTION - 95-22 ACCEPTING THE USE OF INMATE LABOR WHEREAS, the Department of Corrections offers a Community Work Project Program that seeks to place supervised groups ofnon-violent offenders into work projects across the state; and, WHEREAS, these work groups have performed a variety of projects such as building playgrounds, painting the fence around Capitol Square in Richmond, painting and pouring cement at high schools, clearing debris on state property and refurbishing museums; and, WHEREAS, the Community Work Project Program affords localities and state agencies a cost effective way to complete projects and gives inmates opporh~.nities to contribute to the community as well as build marketable skills. NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the Town Council of the Town of Pulaski, . Virginia., that Town Council accepts the use of inmate labor and supports the Community Work Project Program This resolution is effective upon adoption and is adopted by recorded vote of the Town Council of the Town of Pulaski, Virginia, sitting in regular session, on this 21st day of November, 1995 as follows: Dr. John Johnston .Aye John W.
