Minutes of a called meeting of the Town Council of the Town
of Pulaski, held at the Filtration Plant on "'Iay 28th, 1958, at 1:00 p.m.

Absent: J. Fcalph Martin
Also present: Town Attorney: T. B. Poland

In the absence of the Clerk, it was agreed that the Town
".anager should as as temporary clerk for this meeting.
?~-tayor Jackson explained that the meeting ha.d been called
for consideration of the Town's policy concerning a pending matter
before the Board of Zoning Appeals and any items of business concerning
the Eond Issues which may need to be discussed.
The Town ""anager explained that the building permit appl~ca-
tion of Pulaski Hospital had been denied because of the Hospital's
inability to conform to the 7-1~2 ft. side yard rPStriction of the
COUNCIL VIEWED Zoning Ordinance. The Hospital had made a formal appeal to the Board

TIONS TO BE MET After carefully studying the plans for hospital expansion and
after reviewing the area. on the ground, all aspects of the problem were
discussed. Following the discussion motion was made b;; ~"r. Larson,
seconded by P~'r. rJysor, and carried on the unanimous vote of tt:ose
present, that the Town -''7anager be authorized and directed to inf orm
the proper Hospital officials that the Town will not offer any objection
at the Board of Zoning Appeals hearing scheduled for Nay 29th, if the
Hospital zJill agree in writing, prior to the hearing, that in building
put to the property line between the rospital and the •'^own the
Hospital will agree to place a heavy duty non-removable screen over
each window on the side d the building adjacent to the Filtration Plant so
as to .guard against the possibility of any object being tossed from a

hospital window into the nearby Filtration Plant coagulation basin,
and that the F-':ospital would further agree that should the footing of
the foundation wall be placed on Town property then such portion of
the footing as would be on "_'own property would be reinforced with steel
sufficient to carry the weight of any wall which the Town might in the
future build up to the property line.
Town :tanager stated that probably negotiations can shortly

be completed for the Town's purchase of approximately 70 acres of land '
in the Raines 'r'_oliow impoundment area, whic~i land is now owned by
Robert Raines, for the sum of X10.00 per acre and t:3e written guarantee
of the Town that three (3) deceased members of Robert :wines' fatnil;;
would be moved to x suitable cemetery space prior to the inundation of
the cemetery in question whicl-i contains approximately a dozen graves,
all of which must be moved by the Town. Council was in agreement with
this procedure.
There being no other business, the meeting was adjourned.
