The minutes of a special meeting~oi~ the Town "ounci~
of the Tov~rn of Pulaski, `.jirgi pia, held on the 15th day of
December, 1955, at 4 p. m., in the municipal b~_zilding.
There were present:
Mayor C.V. Jackson, presiding,
Councilmen; J. ti. ~iTart_n, V~'. A. Larson and I. R. Carper
Absent: Councilmen: W, n,2. Farmer, V1. F. White, C. '°'T.
Brookman, M.E. Lester, 0. 0. Crowell

Visitors: Howard C. Jackson
The mayor stated this special meeting had been ca119lid
to consider bids received at 2 p.m. this day, December 1~~,
1x55, for the constr~zction of a million gallon water sto~'age
tank on Chestnut Street.
The Town h~anager advised that bids were received in
two classifications: Division 1, Reinforced Concrete Talk
aoundation; and Division II, 1,000,000 CTa11on Steel Stand~ine.
The following; bids were received: Division I - ReinforcA~d
concrete foundation -Davis °u Ar_mentrout, Pulaski, Va.,
23,100.00; Trinkle & Dobyns, Dublin,Va., '32,854.00; anc~.
Donald ~. Selvage, Amherst, Va., ,32,945.00, Division I~ -
1,000,000 gallon steel standpipe water storage tank with>
ellipsoidal roof - Chicago Bridge ~ Iron Company, ~46,74m.00;
Hammond Iron Company, 53,650.00; Pittsburgh-Des Moines 9tee1,
43,690.00; Richmond Engineering Co., X42,85'7.00; bids f ~~
the standpipe tank us~_ng a flat conical roof instead of the
ellipsoidal roof were: Chicago Bridge R~ Iron Company,~3~~550.OQ

The Town 1vZanag~=,r :Further stated that the cost of cori.~-
st~uction of a main line from Commerce Street to the tanl~'
with three -?ire hydrants would be X16,175.00. The low bids
amounting to ~`~56,374.00, plus ~16,175.C0 for the line makt~
