There were present: PRESENT Mayor C. V. Jackson, presiding Councilmen: 0. 0. Crowell, C. T. Brookman, I. R. Carper, W. M. Farmer, J. R. Martin, W. F.'f~hite, W. A. Larson Absent: Councilman M. E. Lester Also present: Town Manager: J. F. Hirst To~,m Clerk: Audrey E. Kingrea Director of Public Works: H. C. Jackson Visitors: Mr. Frank J. Critzer Mr. Bil],y B. Flint ar~d Miss Eve1,~m S. Ha1:1, of the Southwest Times The meeting was opened with a prayer by Billy B."Flint. The minutes of the regular monthly meeting of May 1,x,1956 and the special meeting of May 21, 1956 were read and approved. A letter from Wilson C. Outten, Secretary, YMCA, requesting REQUEST OF the Town to provide water for the Monticello Club swimming pool YMCA FOR TvJATER FOR free of charge during the 1956 season was read. MONTICELIA , CLUB POOL On motion of W. A. Larson, seconded by W. M. Farmer, it was unanimously RESOLVED, that the request of the YMCA~for water withouh charge at the Monticello Club pool during the 1956 season, be granted. Mr. Frank J. Critzer, Superintendent of Pulaski County School REQUEST OF SCHOOL BOARD Board appeared before Council with a request for the construction of FOR SIDEWALK, CURB & GUTTER a sidewalk, curb and gutter on the South side of 12th Street between ON 12th ST. .AND PICO DRIVE Pr ospect Avenue and the corporate limits. He advised Council that Mr. Foy Aust who owned the right of way would 'pay one half the cost of construction. Mr. Cicitizer further recommended that thf~ Town participate in the construction of curb and gutter in front of Pico Terrace High School. Mayor Jackson advised Mr. Critizer that both items were on the agenda and would be discussed by the Council later in the meeting and he would be advised of their action. Councilman W. A. Jackson be appointed to act as Town Manager until such time as a new manager is appointed by the Counc~l. Larson, it was unanimously RESOI:VED, that Officer Umberger is to continue to receive his regular salary until July 1, 1956, at which time the matter will again be reviewed by Council. Council was advised by the Town N:anager that John Leonard Hodge ~'FRTIFICATFc C;T' i'TTRj,TC C CL~IEI~TTFr1CF, ATJD ^TEG?~',SSTTY had requested that hi.s Certificate of Public Convenience and Ne~^essity be cancelled, and that Elbert E. T~inzer who `was next in line to receive a certificate had aatvi.sed the Town P"onager that he did ':not intend to put another taxicab on, therefore the next certificat~_~ had been granted to ?~Tilliam Peyto~l Turner second in line for a certificate. It was the recommen~-Tation of the To-;~n I~:anager that these changes be approved. On motion of I. R. Carper, seconded by ?d. ~'~. Fartiner, it wa. unanimously RF'SCL~TFD, that the ta.xi~ab changes as recommended by the T~~wn VIRGINIA TRAVEL COTTNCiL Manager be approved. The Town Tanager presented a request to the Council from 'the Virginia Travel Council for membership by the Town of Pulaski in the Council on tie basis of $50.00 per year. On motion of ?~'. F.
