There were present: Mayor C. V. Jackson, presiding Councilmen; 0. 0. Crowell, J.C.Crumbley,Jr., V~i`.A.Larson, F.W.Marshall, J.R.Martin, 1~'.F.VOhite. Absent: I.R.Carper, J.L.Kesling. MINUTffi The Minutes of the regular semi-monthly meeting held August 18, 1953 were read and approved. CATER LINE The Mayor stated that the meeting had been SUTHERLAND 1~0DDS called for the purpose of considering the status of the water PICO line extension to the area in the vicinity of Sutherland TER RACE TRAFFIC ~IToods and the pedestrian and vehicular access routes to the new Pico Terrace School. The Mayor stated that there were first several minor matters which should be considered by the Council at this meets ng and h® directed that they be presented. PULASKI The Town Manager advised that he had been PHILLIEs I1~DICATE furnished a financial balance sheet by Mr. Leonard D. ACCdUNT SETTLEMT. ghavlan, General Manager of the Pulaski Phillies, Inc., which in dicated the anticipated assets of the ball club to be6,287.00 at the close of the season and the liabilities, including approximately X1,600.00 in rent due the Town, to be X5,900.00. He stated Mr. Shavlan had advised that all of the assets of the club would not be receivable until about the 15th of September. Council instructed the Town Manager to continua every effort to collect the account as due the town. TRUCK NOISE Mayor Jackson stated that he was in receipt of U.S.11 a letter from the Mayor of Marion, inquiring as to the opinion of the Town of Pulaski regarding noise created by through trucks passing along the streets of the town. ADVERTISING Council was advised of continuing controversy with,. S I GIB 5TH ST regard to the erection of an advertising sign on 5th S~t.,N.N~. Council instructed the Town Attorney to investigate the draftin~ of an ordinance which would to such extent as appeared desirable control outdoor advertising signs. Sutherl~d The Town Manager then reported to the Council on the ~M'oo da pro3 status of the Sutherland Woods water line, and presented to they Council two maps which had been prepared in the matter. The fi~!~t PIC(f TERRACE The Council reviewed in detail maps of the Pico Teace TRAFFIC area and discussed possible locations of sidewalks and street improvements, the principal points in question being construction of a walk from 5th Street to the school, widening of Pico Terrace map, dated August 11, 1953, being to provide for the easement ad~oss the Macgill property from Allison Lane to the Sutherland Woods .I Subdivision, the second map being a subdivision plat dated July~~953 and approved by the Pulaski County Flanning Commission on July ]~4, Gic r 1953, which subdivision entitled, "Claremont $" extends from Pappers Ferry Road through to Newborn Road. The Council indicated that it was their opinion that the maps as presented did not sut~$ivide the Macgill property to the extent contemplated as a result of p~e- liminary discussions several months prior on the water line exteKhsion matter, i't being the consensus of the Council that potential cor~hec- ' tions:'immediately adjacent to the line were insufficient to just~,fy the outlay necessary for construction. On motion duly made by ~. A. Larson, seconded by J.C. Crumbley,Jr,, it was unanimously Re 15 add. RESOLVED, that the Town Manager contact Mr.C.P.Macll lots- and request that he subdivide a minimum of 15 lots along Peppers~l Ferry Road and Allison Lane, which lots would abut the proposed water inc. Road between its intersection with U.S. 11 and the school, and Joint Meeting On motion duly made by 9~.F.White, it was unanimously providing an additional traffic route in front of the school. seconds d by O.O.Cowell, ~i RESOLVED, that the Street Committe®, together with the Mayor and Town Manager meet with the School Board at an early da~e to determine the situation with them and financial arrangements in the matter.
