C~ Jackson The Town Attorney reported in connection with delinquent land sale for unrolleeted 1949 taxes, a partial review of records in the Court House had indicated a trend of these taxes also having been delinquent in the County, and in many eases, of the land having been sold by the County On motion duly made by ~.F.l~hite, seconded by I.R.Carper, the following resolution was adopted, with a recorded vote taken as follows.: N'. Crowell Aye Nos: BE IT RESaLVID, that the Council go on record as ~~ICLI+?A~ RENTAL A (~EEMENT CQUNCILMAN CRUMBLEY APPEARS approving and ratifying now as of November 13, 1953, the postphonement of the delinquent tax sale scheduled for said date for tt~e delinquent taxes for the yeari 1949, 1954 and include 1951, until the second Monday in December, 1954, by recorded sots. On motion duly made by 0. 0. Crowell, seconded by J. L. Re s ling, i b was unanimously RESOLVID, that theTown Manager be authorized to enter into an agreement with the Virginia Maid & Affiliated Employeest Association Por use by the Town Recreation Depar-tment of the Monticello Club from December 1, 1953 to March 15, 1954 in accordance with the terms of the contract and at a monthly rental not to axes®d X120.00. H. Chapman, dr. STREET' PROPERTY Prea ident, Peoples National Bank in regard to ~e purehase bye` the Town of the Bosang property at -Commerce and Pine Streets. I~ Mr. Chapman s letter, he urged that the Town expedite the c1eM~ing of the purchase of this -property -and that the Pevples Bank bei advised a~s ~to when such closure could b® anticipated. Then ; - ~ followed considerable discussion as to the status of the purc~ha.se of this property. The Town Attorney reviewed the legal aspeq~a ~ : of the situation, anti advised th® Council that agreement had been reached with all parties concerned, with exception of a sing7~ provision which was in controversy between himself and Mr. Merin C~aham, representing the Peoples Bank. This provision relate. to the Bank and other parties concerned relieving the Town c~' at~r responsibility as to the disposal -of funds paid by the Town N- the Bank for the purehase of the land. The Council instructed the Mayor to contact the Bank officials as to bringing in other attorneys to attempt to arb.trats the controversy. Brief discussion was given to plans for construction of~~ a garage building at the site. Now ever, no action was taken.
