It was the consensus of the CoungtLl ~ that the full appropriation should not be made at this time but that a potential appropriation could be authorized with th~~ ~ i understanding that, as construction proceeded, Council, at ~. later date, would be approached for the balance to complet~llthe shop building, and that at that future time, further plans for ~, the entire development of the lot would be presented to Cocil. ', On motion duly made by W. F. White, seconded by ~' W'.A. Larson, it was unanimously SHOP BUILDING RESOLVID, that the Town proceed with the construd~ion CONSTRUCTION .AUTH~RI2ED of a shop building in accordance with presented plans on ttfb Commerce street lot, and further, that the sum oP Ten Thous~.nd (10,000.00) Dollars be appropriated from the General Fund t~br the purpos® of this construction. T.P.JOHNSTON The Town Manager advised Council that Mr. T. P. ~~ GAB STAND REQUEST Johnston, who had been authorized by Council at a previous meeting to operate two taxicabs within town had filed a reest with the Town for permission to operate a cab stand on the ~$outh side oP OlGsst Main Street bettyeen the Pulaski Laundry and Rudolph Avenu®. The Town Manager further stated that this request ad been filed prior to the last regular meeting of the Council] but due to his oversight, it had not been presented to Council., Further, it was stated that Mr. Johns ton requested that a cs~rb cut be made at his expense to facilitate the cabs moving fr~rin his stand onto Main Stre"et. " i; Oa motion duly made by F. SIC. Marshall, seconded b~' J.C. Crumbley, it was unanimously Authorization RESOLVED, that Mr. T. P. Johnston be authorized, n ;; accordance with the Taxicab Ordinance to operate a cab stand on ,, the south side of West Main Street, between Pulaski Laundry,~and Randolph Avenue, and Further, that a curb cut be provid®d i11 front of the cab stand, the expens® of which would b® borne~iby the petitioner. REFtTSAL DISPtISAI, The Town Manager and Director of Public works EQUIPMENT discussed briefly with the Council the garbage dtmip situation with particular -reference to the equipment for operating same. The Town Manager advised Council that it was his opinion that within the near future, it would b® nee®ssary for the Town to obtain a new piece of equipment for proper handl ing the dtiunp and that it was his estima- tion that the ®quipment would Bost approximately X15,000.0© - with anticipated receipt of trade in value of the pr®sent Bull Clam at the full purchase price paid by t heTown two years ago. The Mayor advised that shortly after Chris tmas, an opportunity would be available to the Council to make a trip to Salem to observe their sanitary land fill operation. TAXI CERT. Councilman Crowell brought to the attention of APPLICATION -Hubble Council a requ®st by Mr. Robert Paul Hubble for permission to operate an additional cab. Considerable discussion then followed with no action being taken, and the Town Manager was instructed to present this request together with any other outstanding cab applications at the next regular meeting of Council. ONE-WAY Then followed a discussion of the one-way TRAF~'I C SYSTEM traffic system which was currently in op®ration with the general consensus being that the Town should proceed as originally seh®duled, and with the system being terminated on January 4, 1954.
