ADVERTISING ACTION RESCINDID -Adv.atpark LHASE PULASKI HOSPITAL, INC. It was reported that the contract with the Pulaski Ball Club provided that the club should have the eacluaivm rights from the sale of advertisi ng on the temporary wood fence at Calfee Park, and that this was contrary to previous action of the Council, providing for the Town to collect the revenue from the sale of advertising. On motion duly made by 1N. D. Macgill, Jr., seconded by 0. 0. Crowell, it was unanimously RESOLVID, the action of the Council Aapril 17, 1951, providing for the sale of advertising by the Town on the temporary wood fence at Calfee Perk is hereby rescinded. Mr. A. I. Crowell, Attorney, appeared before the Council in regard t© the matter of purchase of certain land owned by the Town west of the Pulaski Hospital. also, Dr. R. F. Thornhill stated the hospital was interested in purchase of this land for t3ae future eapan~ion of the hospital facilities. On motion duly made by T. F, ~firt! seconded by G. R. Sweeney} ORDINANCE ' --Carson representing the Junior il~man~ s Club, appeared before the Co~pncil Sweeney ` with regard to the matter of revising the present Milk Ordinnce to make it in conformity with the new recommended ordinance f the !i Mate Department of Health. The matter of the revision of to ~. Milk Ordinance was discussed, and it was determined that a rpre- sentative from the Mate Health Department should meet with the Council and discuss the changes in the proposed ordinance against the existing ordinance: C OPER ~'• H. Pulaskii Va., June 5, 1951 ALLEY OPENING RE~IIEST Irvin N. Morefield to use name of Checker Cabs at same location and to dissolve partnership with`Elbert E. Kinser, owner of Rainbow Cabs. It was reported .that the street Committee PEIRCE, had viewed the request that an alley in the block of FIFTH, DRAPER, Peirce, Fifth, Draper and Fourth St .,S.E. be opened, and FOIIRTH,S.E. it was found that that the garage encroaching this alley had been removed, but that the alley was apparently about twelve feet wid®, and would not be of sufficient width to generally serve the Towns needs. It was decided that the property owners should be contacted to determine whether they would be willing to give sufficient right-of-way to provide for a twenty foot alley. FILLING GIITTF.&~ WASH.AVE. CONTRACT BLACK DIAMONDS' ORDINANCE BASEBALL, INNINGS: The matter of filling the gut ter on Was33- ington Avenue between Fifth and Biath streets, on the west side, was discussed, and it was generally considered that this would not be of a great deal of benefit, although the cost of this work would not be large, It was also reported that there probably would be requests for other improvements in this block, and it was decided. to defer action for the present. On motion duly made by W. F. Ylhite, seconded by T. F. Wirt, it was unanimously ~ RESC[.VED, that the present terms of the ball club contract with C. P. Bailey, providing for a rental of Fifteen 01.5.00) Dollars per game Scheduled, whether used or not, and Twenty 020.00) Dollars additional for lights mall be extended to the Blank Diamonds, if they agree to the same general conditions of this contract. On motion duly made by G. R. ~teger,'seconded by 11~.~ F. #hite, carried by a unanimous vote, the following ordinance was adopted; BE IT ORDAINED that no inning of any baseball game shall be started at Calfee Park later than 10;50 p.m., and that this shall be effective upon passage. Miller, Certfied Public Accountant, for audit of the Townf s books for the yeah{ ending June 30, 1951, at an amount not to exceed X600.00 be accepted. ;~ On motion duly' made by T. F. Steger, and..carried by a `unanimous vote, the following ordin~nce was adopted; BE IT ORDAINE9•that no parking be permitted on thbj South side of Eleventh Street, North, between Prospect Av®nui~ and Randolph Avenue, and that this shall be enforced the sam as other ~~ parking regulations. This ordinance shall become effective as soon as proper signs have been erected. :' On motion duly made by Tip. F. White, seconded by E T. Painter, it was unanimously ~' i RESOLVED, that the lease of land for airport purp~ses from Mrs . Margaret Strauss- and Mrs . Margie M. Bopp and Mr. C~l A. Bopp at a total cost of 820.00 for one gear from July 1, .951 ;, be reneawed, and that the contract with the Civil Aleronautics iA.dmin- rE istration for the use of the airfield watchtower site and fo#I the boundary lighting along the runways, at an amount of X2.00 p~~r yearl, be renewed for one year, effective July 1, 1951. Yl~irt, it was unanimously carried, .and the following ordinanc was adopteds 1~~~ ORDINANCE NO PARKING ~ E .SIDE LAKC STATE WATER: CONTROL BOARD { JAPANESE I CEO'EOTR OL Council Minutes Conttd. Pulaski, Va., June 5, 1951 BE IT ORDAINED that no parking be permitted on the east side of Lake street, between 2nd «~trest, S.Wi. and Chestnut Alley, and that this shall be enforced the same as other parking regulations. This ordinance shall become effective as soon as proper signs have bean erected. A letter was read from the Mate Water Control Board, requesting that the Town adv3ise when consulting engineers ware employed for undertaking a preliminary report, and the date the report would be completed. The matter of disease and infestation on a number of the Town tress, and trees along the street right-of-ways was discussed. It tras reported that this matter had been catefully inspected in the field with a representative of the ~3artlet Oompany. ,~:].so, a letter from the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Immi- gration was read, rrging that the Town take action to . combat the Japanase_Beetle, which is prevalent in D cerrtain sections . On motion duly made by W. F. White, seconded by G. R~ Stager, it was unanimously RESOLVED, that the Bartl®t Company be employed to undertake tha immediate spraying, required on certain trees at a stun not to exceed ~500.OQ'~ - ~100.fJ0 of which would be for the purpose of protecting the trees at the cemetery. SMOKE PROBLEM - The matter of smoke problem in the vicinity MAPLE SHADE INN _ of the Yaple Shade Inn was discussed, and it was determined that the Town Manager should further contact the local mills:, and request their cooperation toward relieving this pr©blem.
