Pulaski, Virginia was held in the Municipal Building at 4:3 A~.igus t 19, 1949. PRESENT There were present: Mayor Marvin G. Graham, presiding Councilmen; ~. D. Aust, 0. 0. Crowell, H. R. Imboden, G. R. Steger, ~i1. F. White,. T. F. Wirt. Absent; I. R. Carper, OtNeal Amos. Also present: Town Manager: E. A. Beck Clerk: Verna L.Dalton Town Attorney: Garnett S. Moore Visitors: John McGaughy, Lublin, McGaughy A~ssociatea:, Norfolk, Virginia. PtTRPOSE~ STATED COMMERCE STREET BRIDGE BIDS REJECTED M.S. HUD GINS PROPOSAL -Rejected COST REDUCTION MEASURES CONSIDERED It was stated that the purpose of the meeting consider the bids on Commerce Street Bridge, and the engine requested to discuss the bids previously received. It was out that, although some of the bids may not have been balan they appeared to be in line with the estimate for the scope work provided. On motion duly made by tfP. F. White, seconded H. R. Imboden, and carried by a note of five to one, it was RESOLVED, that all bids received as of August 1949, for proposed Commerce Street Bridge be rejected, in total cost is beyond the amount considered justified within Townts financial means. It was considered by Mr. McGaughy that it would require approximately two weeks to redesign and submit new plans, and that new bids could be received within thirty days from the date of the present Council meeting.
