Oweffi, Councilmen-elect; Martin Johnson, Ailey & Ailson, Consult ing Engineers, Lynchburg, Virginia MINUTES The minutes of the epecial meeting held duly 28, 19~i0 and of the special meeting August 4, 1954, and of the regular meet~iag { Atugnst 8, 1950 were read and approved, On motion duly made by T. F. dirt, secmnded ley H. R~! Imboden, it was unanimously B~STRAR RESOLVED, that the amount of Eleven Dollars and Si.z~y' APPROVED Cents (~11,6A) be paid Mrs. Elizabeth H. Caves for registering voters in the Town precinct, and further than this amount be transferred from Account 1A-299 to `{ BUILDING On motion. duly made by H. R. Imboden, secondsd by T~1 F, PERMIT rt, it was unanim®usly APPLICATION RESOLVED, that the following applications for buildg -Gospel permitsbe granted: To Gospel Tabernacle (by Ni. M, Gallimore}s~or Tabernacle cinder block and stuccoed church on the north side of E. Main~~treet, -Thompson estimated ~7,®00.00; To Fred E. Thompson for one story five rjlom frame dwelling on the south side of Peppers Ferry Rca d, estimated ~2, 500.0._ WATER~tORKS ltartin~Johnson, representative from Ailey & Filson, '• IMPROVEMENTS ,; Consulting Engineers; Lynchburg, Virginia, appeared before t~~ Council and presented a detailed report of the bids recently .,' received from contractors on the proposed waterw©rks improvements, Recommendations were made as to the awarding of contrast and ' a, deduction of certain items, to include one filtering equipment, pilaster and roof on loading porch, om~.tting 20 fluorescent l~ght f3actur®s, omitting water main on Chestnut Alley, Madison Aven~le, ~. Baskerville & Pine street Qonnection. The total amount of wok recormnended to be awarded was #300,317.00, and with the estiated ~; cost for Resident Eagineerts inspection, engineering costs one{new 1`7d~2 Pulaski, Va., Aug. 22, 1950 plans and specificsations, general sup®rv3,eion, and contingencies the total cost was made $531,165.04. The Council th®n considered the amount of funds available for-this project at the present time, and it appeared there would be approximately ~512,4t4.4? in the Water Construction.Fund. _It was considered advisable to hold a_special meeting Friday, August 25, for the purpose of determining the amount to be awarded. ANDOLPH There was discussed the Randolph Avenue Widening VENUE 3DENING Pro act and the Pulaski H®s ital Inc. request for new sidewalk ROJECT ~ p ~ ~ and filling in the space-between the sidewalk and the curb. the Town meager was instructed to cantaet the hospital to determine whether or not they would be willing to pay toward the cost ®f Pilling in between the sidewalk and the curb.
