Council of the Town of Pulaski, Virginia was held in the l~a.nici- pal Building at 4:00 P. M., Januar~r 18, 1949. i PRESENT There were present: Mayor Marvin G. Graham, presiding Councilmen: I. R. Boothe ~~ ~ MINUTES The minutes of the meeting held January 6,f~949 were read and approved. BUILDING On motion duly made by T. F. Wirt, seconds by APPLICATIONS 0. 0. Crowell, it was unanimously RESOLVED, that the application for buildin~~ J.C.Wallace permit be granted to J. C. Wallace, Jr. for construction ~ ~ office addition to building located northwest corner, inter- section Washington Avenue and Third Street, N. W., at estiated cost of ~1y0D0.D0. Lemons, it was RESOLVED, that the offer of Miss• Effie Boot~.e to purchase the Town-owned lot on the corner of South Washin~on Avenue and Columbia Drive for Six Hundred Dollars (~600.OC~~, or 1420 Council Minutes Contd. Pulaski, Va., January 18, 1949 or the rental of the same for Four Hundred Dollars 0400.00) to be used for a sign location be deferred and that Miss Effie Boothe be permitted to continue maintaining present sign located on this property until after the next Council meeting. On motion duly made by W. F. V~'hite, seconded by T. F. dirt, it was unanimously ', ~i'EST COMMERCE RESOLVED, that the town manager be STREET BRIDGE authorized to enter an agreement with the firm of Lublin- McGaughy & Associates for engineering services in connection with the West Commerce Street bridge pro3ect on a fee of six percent. ~ FIRE HYDRANT The Council was advised that it would 4th ST & LEXINGTON A. require approximately one thousand feet of new six-inch water main to install fire hydrant on Fourth Street and '~ Lexington Avenue, and it was recommended that this be deferred until a future date. ' On motion of T. F. Wirt, seconded by I. R. Carper, it was unanimously PARKING ORDAINED, that parking be prohibited FIRST ST., NORTH - on the north side of First Street, North, between Vdashington PROHIBITED and Jefferson Avenues, and that this shall b e enforced the same as other parking regulations, to be effective as soon as proper signs have been erected. On motion duly made by V~. F. White, seconded by T. F. Wirt, it was unanimously DUPLICATING RESOLVED, that the purchase of a MACHINE duplicating machine be authorized axed an amount not~to exceed Two Hundred 0200.00) Dollars be appropriated for purchase of same. On motion duly made by I. R. Carper, 1 seconded by T. F. Wirt, it was unanimously SEWER RESOLVED, that the request for a sewer LOCUST ST. on Locust Street, East of Newbern Road, be deferred. On motion of L. C. Lemons, seconded by T. F.Wirt, it was unanimously (MASHBURN AVENUE EXTENSION RESOLVED, that 0. 0. Crowell be appointed as a committee to contact and negotiate with G. W. On motion of V~'. F•. White, seconded by I. R.~ Carper, it was unanimously CLARK STREET ~ RESOLVED, that the town manager investigate RUBBISH DISPOSl~l, the condition of rubbish disposal in a ditch on Clark Street and report recommendations to council for improving the sari.
