M., February 22, 1949. r PRESENT There were present: Mayor Marvin G. Graham, presiding Councilmen: W. D.Aust,'I. R.Carper, 0. 0. Crowell, B.R.Imboden~ L.C. Lemons, T.F.1N'if~t. ' Absent: G. R.Steger, W.F:White. Also present: Town Manager: E.A.Beck Clerk Verna L. Dalton Treasurer: Mrs. Lottie R. Runion Chief of Police: L.S. Boothe MINUTES The minutes of the meetings held February 8,' 15 and 18, 1949 were read and approved. On motion duly made by T. F. Wirt, seconded ~1Y I. Dyer (by Charle -Dyer Dyer, Jr.} for two story frame and brick dwelling on east ide of Washington Avenue, 1Qorth, between 5th and 6th Streets, ~.W., -Knode to cost $11,000.00; To S. C. Knode for cinder block worksY~ p on south side of Whitaker Road, to cost $300.00; To ~IToodsot~ S. -Cummings Cummings for one story brick devilling on east side of Jef ~rson Avenue, between 6th and 7th Streets, N.W., to cost X15,00 00. R.F.SYNDER The building permit application of R. F. S".tratton requested Council to con ruct water line for the residents in the area known as "Kerseyt ~ _ Bottom". RESOLVED, that an additional Twenty Fiv e 025.00} Dollars be appropriated for purchase of duplicating equipment. - On motion duly made by H.R. Imboden, seconded by T. F. Vltirt, it was unanimously ' TRAFFIC SURVEY AUTHORIZED RESIGNATION ROBY K. SUTHERLAND (Town Attny.) RESOLVED, that the Virginia Department of Highways Traffic Plan Section be requested to make a traffic survey and report of recommendations for relieving and improving traffic movement in the business district, and IT IS FURTHER RESOLVED that an amount not :-to exceed Five Hundred Dollars 0500.00} b® provided for the cost of this work. A letter of resignation of Mr. Roby I~. Sutherland as Town Attorney was presented. On motion duly made by H. R. Imboden, seconded by T. ,F. Wirt, it was unanimously RESOLVED, that the resignation of Mr. Roby K. Sutherland as Town Attorney be accepted with extreme regret, and it is FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Town Manager be instructed to write Mr. Sutherland, expressing the regret of the Council and its appreciation for his services. On motion duly made by T. F. Wirt, seconded by I. R. Carper, it was unanimously GARNETT S. RESOLVID, that Mr. Garnett S. Moore be MOORE APPOINTED TOWN ATTORNEY appointed Town. Attorney for the unexpired term of Roby K. Sutherland. PETITION GARNER AVENUE RESIDENTS A pe tition from residents of Garner Avenue was presented requesting water mains and street improvements. It was determined that the Town Manager improve the street conditions as he deemed necessary. On motion duly made by T. F. Wirt, seconded by L.C.Lemons and unanimously carried, ORDINANCE PA `BAST BE IT ORDAINED that parking on the east '~ SIDE WASHINGTON AVE. to side of Washington Avenue north of First Street,N.~lf. for a 5 minute res. distance of seventy (70) feet be restricted to five minute parking between the hours of 8 a.m. and 10 p.m. This ordinance shall be enforced the same as other traffic regulations and a D 1 1 ~ Pulaski Va.
