in special session at 1:30 o~clock ~'. ~a., ~iay 18, 1946 at
the mayorts office. 'there were present: Mayor K. T. Eskridge,
presiding; Lottie R. Runion, clerk; ti. V~. Gatewood, director
of public works, and Councilmen: 0. P. Jordan, Jr., T. F. i~irt,
Howard 1~. imboden, uw. N'. ~~hite, r. x. Seigle, I. R. Carper
and Vti. L. nust. absent: G. G. Hall.

other matters coming before t;he Council.

Charles F. Lyer, who addressed the Council regarding regulate

consideration.

director of public works in•the matter.

prepare necessary parking meter ordinance.

passed, the Council instructed that 5 minutes parking limit

ana the bridge shoulc! remain as at present, and that the
same liiuit should apply on the east side of waashington hve.,
between First 5t. N. and the bridge.
Third St.r. Un motion duly made, seconded and unanimously passed,
the Council authorized 3U minutes restricted parking li:uit
on the north side of 'third 5t. i~., betVyeen ~`uashiiigton and
~ of Person avenues, be put into efi ect, and the same re-
strictions on the west side of` ~uashington nve., betraeen
Third and Fourth streets, north.

Food Center, as well as a free parking space for the public
in general. On motion of ter. uyhite, seconded by ter.
~-~uboden ana unanimously passed, the entrance was authorized,
as requested.

authorized that the bus stops be eliminated at all eight (8)
corners, vii.... at the intersections of Second St. and
V~ashington live., forth, and Second Street and Jefferson ~ve.~
forth, s.nd the Mayor and director of` public vaorks were directed
to select suitable stops for the buses.

making a total of ~2,U7U.00, and the chief of police was aut}]horized
to place the order. it was the sense of the Council that thB
maintenance would be taken care of by local engineers.
